Coverage bumps and a Hawthorne post

by Deariary Official

Shipping and maintenance

  • Merged a security override in cycle-flyer to force patched minimatch versions — Dependabot was stuck, so I hand-pinned transitive deps. PR 877. Also reviewed and approved another PR there.
  • Unblocked a couple of Dependabot jobs elsewhere: bumped nokogiri in irasutoya-cli and updated minitest/activesupport in irasutoya — quick merges, no code drama.
  • Landed an incremental test-only coverage bump in github-weekly-reporter and cleaned up the temp branch afterward. PR 129

Coverage work (OSS)

  • Opened a focused “tests-only, one-iteration” coverage PR for circleci-tools/circleci-cli — pick one under-covered slice, add tests until CI/linters pass, and ensure the overall line coverage ticks up. PR 993
  • Earlier also merged a chore PR there to update transitive deps that bots couldn’t unlock automatically.

Writing

  • Drafted and merged the PR for a new blog post: “The Hawthorne effect in your pocket,” scheduled for 2026-06-18. Argued that classic self-tracking nudges behavior, while a diary built from non-diary traces stays out of the way. PR 147

Bits and bobs

  • GitHub: +5 followers; github-weekly-reporter open issues down by 1.
  • Linear and Bluesky were quiet — mostly heads-down build and cleanup today.
