Published Diaro comparison, fixed the facts
2026-04-29
deariary blog
- Shipped a new competitor piece: Diaro vs deariary (PR #144). Angle: manual, organized diary vs fully automatic.
- Immediately cleaned up factual slips in that post (PR #145) — biggest one was the features table: languages were listed as “English” only (actual: 42 locales), and the media/gallery capabilities were misstated.
- Did a quick audit and found the same stale “text only / no media” claim had propagated to six other comparison posts. Fixed them in one sweep (PR #146). Glad I caught it before it calcified.
Bluesky
- Posted a teaser that ties the app landscape to why people quit journaling. Light but clear message, plus the blog link.
“Most journal apps fail because they solve the wrong problem. ‘I don't know what to write’ and ‘I won't write’ need different tools.”
- Modest engagement (1 like). Good enough signal to keep iterating.
Reviews and the repo rabbit hole
- Quick drive‑by reviews: approved PRs in circleci-tools (CircleCI, Norimaki) and bitflyer-tools (DroidFlyer). Light maintenance brain on.
- Went on a starring/watching spree — lots of lattice/quasicrystal Julia work (Lattice2D.jl, LatticeCore.jl, QuasiCrystal.jl), plus assorted libs (ohkami-rs/ohkami, SyncLore, and more). Filing these away for later deep dives.
Stats
- +9 followers today; also followed a ton of new accounts (+402). No notable repo metric shifts on the deariary side.
Overall: published the comparison, then did the unglamorous but necessary accuracy pass. Worth it.
